We use following abbreviations in front of player names:

C = Computer Player.

CM = Candidate Master: An InstantChess-internal grade for
very strong human players.

GM = Grandmaster

IM = International Master

R = "Recents" are those players whom you have started a game minimum 3 times during last 30 days. You can turn "Recents" into "Friends" (F) or "Blocked" (B) or "Neutrals" (N). Once you moved an "R" player to your "F" or "B" list, it will never return to "R" status.

F = "Friends" are those whom you can search in a first place when you are looking for a game. "Friend Search" will be an option to help you play with those players you like to play best. You can look for friends at the beginning of your game search for a certain time-period (specified by you) or even restrict your search to "Friends" seek only.
Also you can change your (F) attitude towards a player in your Mates list and move him to (B) or (N).

B = "Blocked" are those with whom you don`t want to play for some reason. Our new improved seeking method will have option to ignore players whom you identified as (B) for you and you will have an ability to avoid meeting them in a game. Also you will have an additional option to trust other players and avoid meeting players whom they identified as (B) for themselves.
Also you can change your (B) attitude towards a player in your Mates list and move him to (F) or (N).

N = "Neutrals" are those that you have no specific attitude. (N) and (R) can become your opponents when at random phase of your seeking process. You can change your (N) attitude towards a player in your Mates list and move him to (F) or (B).
